The Washington Art Association presents an exhibition in The Project Room of designer toys featuring work by Bulz-i Studio, an artist group in the Washington area.
Designer toys are a new art movement that combines fine art and popular culture. Also referred to as urban vinyl, this art form first emerged from Japan and China, but is now being created by artists from around the world.
This art form is produced in different forms, vinyl, paper and fabric. The vinyl toys are made from plastic and are seen in stores like Kidrobot . The popular Uglydolls are known as designer plush. Urban paper is a form of 3-D sculptures made from printed and folded paper. Designers often share their paper designs which can be downloaded from their sites, printed and made into small characters.
This exhibition showcases all three of these mediums.
Please join us at the opening reception on Saturday November 27 from 3 - 6 PM. Free and open to the public.
