"Bathers by the Waterfall" by Woldemar Neufeld
|
"The hanging demonstrates that an exhibition must first make an inviting impact upon the viewer and the individual painting will automatically relate its message." ~Woldemar Neufeld, a founding member of WAA, on the Watercolors & Graphics exhibition, 1969
The high caliber of exhibitions at the Washington Art Association was established early in the organization's history, with Alexander Calder, Andre Masson, Yves Tanguy, and other celebrated artists participating in early shows.
Today, WAA's Exhibition Committee continues that tradition of excellence by evaluating hundreds of submissions each year, and assembling shows that thoughtfully explore diverse media, styles, and subjects.
Since staging its inaugural exhibition in 1952, WAA has presented more than 450 shows, which have featured the works of both emerging and established artists from all over the country and around the world.
As a nexus of art in Litchfield County, WAA attracts more than 10,000 visitors to its exhibitions each year.
Gallery Hours for the Winter Tuesday through Saturday, 10am - 5pm; Closed Sundays & Mondays.
