Workshop: Painting the Still Life with John Wellington

Workshop: Painting the Still Life with John Wellington
The still-life offers the artist complete control of his/her compositions, to paint from life without a model and to push one's creative skills.

Working in oil paint, we will review both indirect and direct methods of applying paint. Demonstrations in brush techniques, blending and attending edges, and convincingly rendering light and shadow. Lighting to give drama and mood, and placement of objects to create spatial movement giving the paintings a stronger visual interest and power.

The skills one learns from painting the still-life is easily transferred to landscapes, portraits and more complex and conceptually driven works of art.
