“ …it is in its formality that realist art excels, and the best abstract art communicates an overwhelming sense of reality.” Fairfield Porter
We will look intensively at reflective and transparent objects, and explore how careful looking and bold painting can be both abstract and very real (have that “overwhelming sense of reality”)
At each class, we will start by looking at examples of still lives by other artists, both modern and traditional, and then work on our individual interpretations. There will be pre-set still lives to work from, based on the examples we have just looked at, or you can structure your own.
This is a class open to all levels, and goals. It is about what we choose to see and show, and how we can share that through the flexible medium of paint.
For more information about our classes and to register for a class, you may also telephone us at 860.868.2878 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tuition must be paid in full one week prior to the first class. Students are guaranteed a place in class only after full payment is received.
Materials are extra for some classes and workshops.
