This is a beginner to advanced course in Portrait/Figure Painting in oil. Students may work from a live model, photo-reference or mirror. Topics covered include proportions, the anatomy and structure of the head and neck, organizing and handling oil paint, discussions and demonstrations of the various artists' materials: paints, supports ( canvas, wood panels), mediums, brushes, solvents, palettes etc, getting the look of three dimensionality and creating realistic skin tones. Each student will receive a complete course syllabus and each class will begin with one or more instructor demonstrations. Students will receive step-by-step guidance and individual feedback. Absolute beginners are especially welcome and encouraged to join in the excitement of oil painting. Advanced artists are very welcome to continue to expand their studio skills too! There is something for everyone in our Saturday morning sessions.
